As of 5 January 2015, the requirements to obtain Master Certification in Microsoft Office 2013 will be reduced from six exams to four and candidates will have the option to choose between three Master Certification tracks -
the Word Track, the Excel Track or the Experts Track.

Word Track

The Word Track puts an emphasis on obtaining advanced skills in Microsoft Word via Word Expert Certification. Combine that with a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification for Excel and one additional MOS certification and the Word Track truly validates a candidate's skillset across multiple Microsoft Office applications preparing candidates for potential careers in popular fields like Sales and Marketing, Legal, Journalism and more.

Excel Track

Candidates interested in career fields such as Accounting, Finance, Database Administration or Research would benefit from gaining the Master Certification using the Excel Track. The Excel Track requires validation of advanced spreadsheet skills via Excel Expert Certification. When combined with a Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Word and one additional MOS elective a candidate can show potential employers that he/she has the skillset necessary to manage large datasets and tackle similar on-job challenges using Microsoft Office.

Experts Track

Candidates interested in really showing off their advanced skillset in Word and Excel can earn Master Certification using the Experts Track. Similar to Master Certification requirements for MOS 2010, the Experts track requires Expert Certification in both Word and Excel, but it does not require an additional certification from the list of electives.
